Brio & Odyssey Elevators Claim TÜV Certification — But TÜV SÜD Says Brio Is “Not Certified”

Chennai, September 2026: A serious question is emerging over the certification claims being presented by Brio Elevators and associated marketing around TÜV SÜD certification.

Brio’s website prominently displays a TÜV SÜD logo under “Our Elevators Are Certified By”, creating the clear impression that its elevator products have been certified by TÜV SÜD. However, when the claim was independently questioned with TÜV SÜD, the response received from a TÜV SÜD Senior Manager, Management Systems Assurance, stated that the company Brio was “not currently certified.”

That raises a fundamental question for consumers: if they are currently not certified, on what basis was TÜV SÜD being presented as a certification credential?

The original verification request specifically asked TÜV SÜD to confirm whether Brio was certified, the applicable elevator products or models, the certificate number, scope and validity. The request was prompted because Brio reportedly did not provide a certificate that could be independently verified with TÜV SÜD.

So what exactly are consumers being asked to believe?

If a company publicly places the TÜV SÜD mark alongside the statement “Our Elevators Are Certified By,” consumers would reasonably expect there to be an identifiable and independently verifiable certification behind that representation.

Yet the TÜV SÜD correspondence currently available states that Brio is not certified at the time of the response and that there wasno audit conducted.

This makes the issue larger than a logo on a website. It is about transparency in how certification claims are communicated to prospective elevator buyers, particularly when consumers are making a substantial investment in a safety-critical product.

Questions Brio’s promoters should answer

• What exact TÜV SÜD certificate is being referred to on the website?
• What is the certificate number and verification reference?
• Which elevator models or products are covered?
• When was the TÜV SÜD audit conducted?
• If the certification was not yet granted, why was TÜV SÜD displayed under “Our Elevators Are Certified By”?
• Does the TÜV SÜD claim refer to Brio Elevators, its manufacturing partner, a component, or the elevator product itself?
• Can Brio publish the complete certificate so customers can independently verify it directly with TÜV SÜD?

And what about Odyssey Elevators?

A certification logo is not, by itself, a substitute for a certificate number, defined scope and independent verification.

The consumer deserves clarity — not just certification logos

For an elevator purchase involving significant financial investment and a product directly connected with passenger safety, customers should not have to rely solely on marketing representations.

The question now is simple: if Brio's public-facing material says “Our Elevators Are Certified By TÜV SÜD,” where is the certificate that proves exactly what TÜV SÜD has certified?

Until the certificate, scope and verification details are made independently verifiable, consumers are entitled to ask questions about what the TÜV SÜD claim actually represents.
