Choreographer Vijay Ganguly reveals Ravi Kishan wanted the song’s vibe to match Akshaye Khanna’s Fa9la

Mirzapur The Movie’s Ghoom Ghoom song: The movie song has gained popularity due to its exciting dance moves and festivities. However, now the movie choreographer Vijay Ganguly is revealing an interesting story behind the making of this song. As per Vijay, Ravi Kishan had requested that the feel of the song should be similar to the Akshaye Khanna’s popular song, Fa9la from Dhurandhar.

As mentioned by Vijay Ganguly, Fa9la had just been released when they were making Ghoom Ghoom. And as Fa9la was a big hit then, Ravi Kishan felt that they could do something similar for Mirzapur: The Movie. He told Vijay how he liked the latter’s work in Dhurandhar and how he could make something for Mirzapur.

It has been revealed by the choreographer that Ravi Kishan had asked that they make “some magical stuff.” Vijay said that Ravi played a very important part in the popularity of the dance steps and it was one of the major reasons why Ghoom Ghoom became popular.

However, Ghoom Ghoom was not only influenced by Fa9la. The directors wanted to infuse the track with an energetic vibe while drawing inspiration from the iconic Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay directed by Ramesh Sippy.

The track was shot in Jaisalmer against the background of the desert. Vijay Ganguly has told how he had proposed filming the video of the track in Mumbai; however, director Gurmmeet Singh insisted on using a real location from Rajasthan for that purpose. The filming also involved difficulties since the team had to work in very harsh climatic conditions.

Ghoom Ghoom is performed by Rashmeet Kaur and RAY while its lyrics are penned down by Kumaar. This dance song includes popular actors from the Mirzapur series such as Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Ravi Kishan and Sonal Chauhan.

Mirzapur: The Movie presents the OTT series franchise on the big screen. This crime thriller was directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios.
