Jamui Viral Video Case: The harassment of two minor students in Jamui, Bihar has led to a police inquiry following the surfacing of videos of the same on social media. Reports say that the victim students who were returning from their coaching classes comprised one male and one female student studying in Class 10. This incident occurred on September 19 at evening in the jurisdiction of Jamui Sadar Police Station. The viral videos depicted the two minors being surrounded by some people. The girl could be heard saying something to the people to leave them, while the boy was allegedly being harassed as well.

Statements Given by Victims Before FIR Registration

After circulating the videos, Jamui Police registered an FIR in the case after getting in touch with the minors and recording their statements under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. It is reported that the accused were identified by police through the video clips, and various police teams have been formed for the arrest of those involved in the crime. As per the report dated September 21, three accused have been arrested so far, while police are still investigating the participation of others in the crime.

What Happened in Jamui?

As per initial reports, the minor children had gone out on a scooter after visiting coaching classes. On the way back home, they had been stopped by a group of youth. Videos, which came out on the internet, depicted the minors being cornered and being abused with derogatory remarks. One of the segments in the video was of inappropriate touching of the girl. These videos had gone viral and people had demanded police intervention. The police have been investigating the matter by studying the videos. Efforts are being made to understand the entire case and get the identity of all those involved.

Police Promise Action

Police authorities in Jamui have stated that there is an ongoing investigation, and strict action will be taken against the culprits. Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Dayal also stated that the identities of the victims have been found, and police are going after the individuals featured in the footage.
